DISABLE PROCEDURE AND TIME (Always Check Service Manual)

Before removing any of the SRS parts (including the disconnection of the connectors), always disconnect the SRS connector

1) Turn the ignition switch OFF
2) Ground the SCS line with the HDS to take the PCM out of active status
3) Disconnect the negative cable from the battery
4) Wait at least 3 minutes before beginning work

PARTS THAT MUST BE REPLACED FOLLOWING A DEPLOYMENT

After a collision where the seat belt tensioners deployed, replace these items:
• SRS unit [MODULE,AIRBAG CONTROL]
• Deployed seat belt tensioners and protectors
• Front impact sensors [AIRBAG SENSOR,FRONT]

After a collision where the front airbag(s) deployed, replace these items:
• SRS unit [MODULE,AIRBAG CONTROL]
• Deployed airbag(s); [AIRBAG,STEERING WHEEL], if deployed
[AIRBAG,INSTRUMENT PNL], if deployed
• Deployed seat belt tensioners and protectors
• Front impact sensors [AIRBAG SENSOR,FRONT]

After a collision where the side airbag(s) deployed, replace these items:
• SRS unit [MODULE,AIRBAG CONTROL]
• Deployed side airbag(s) [AIRBAG,FRONT SEAT], if deployed
• Side impact sensor(s) (first) for the side(s) that deployed [AIRBAG SENSOR,SIDE]
• Deployed seat belt tensioners and protectors

After a collision where a side curtain airbag has deployed, replace the items for the side(s) that deployed:
• SRS unit
• Deployed side curtain airbag(s)
• Side impact sensor(s) (first) for the side(s) that deployed
• Side impact sensor(s) (second) for the side(s) that deployed
• Deployed seat belt tensioners and protectors
• Rear safing sensor
• Roll rate sensor
• Roof trim
• C-pillar upper trim
• Grab handles
• All grab handle brackets for the side(s) that deployed
• All related trim clips
• Sunvisor
• Any damaged restraint system part

PARTS THAT MUST BE INSPECTED AND REPLACED IF DAMAGED

During the repair process, inspect these areas:
• Inspect all the SRS wire harnesses. Replace, don't repair, any damaged harnesses.
• Inspect the cable reel for heat damage. If there is any damage, replace the cable reel.
• Inspect the seat-back cushion and the seatback frame. After a collision in which the side airbag was deployed, replace the side airbag with new parts. If the seat-back cushion is split, it must be replaced. If the seatback frame is deformed, it must be replaced.
• Check the operation of the ODS unit
• Operation of the front passenger's weight sensor unit
• Any restraint system part or wiring identified by diagnostic check
