DISABLE PROCEDURE AND TIME (Always Check Service Manual)

Before doing any SRS repairs, use the HDS SRS menu method to check for DTCs (make sure the HDS is loaded with the latest software); refer to the DTC Troubleshooting Index for the less obvious deployed parts (seat belt tensioners, front impact sensors, side airbag sensors, etc.)

Make sure you have the anti-theft code(s) for the audio and/or the navigation system (if equipped)

Before removing the SRS unit connectors, always disconnect the appropriate associated SRS parts connectors.

1. Make sure the ignition switch is in LOCK (0)
2. Disconnect the negative cable from the battery
3. Wait at least 3 minutes before beginning work

• Seat belt tensioners
• If the seat belt tensioner has been deployed, replace the front seat belt protector with a new one.

• B-pillar lower trim
• Complete seat frame, for the side(s) that deployed
• Any damaged restraint system part

After a collision where a side curtain airbag has deployed, replace the items for the side(s) that deployed:
• SRS unit [MODULE,AIRBAG CONTROL]
• Left side curtain airbag [AIRBAG,ROOF], if deployed
• Right side curtain airbag [AIRBAG,ROOF], if deployed
• Seat belt tensioner(s) for the side(s) that deployed
• If the seat belt tensioner has been deployed, replace the front seat belt protector with a new one.

PARTS THAT MUST BE INSPECTED AND REPLACED IF DAMAGED

• After a vehicle collision, do the ODS unit operation check
• ODS Unit; Do not replace the ODS unit unless it is physically damaged or a specific fault was found during DTC troubleshooting
• After a vehicle collision, inspect the front seat active head restraints
• Inspect all the SRS wire harnesses. Replace, do not repair, any damaged harnesses
• Inspect the cable reel for heat damage. If there is any damage, replace the cable reel [CLOCK SPRING]
• Seatbelts and seatbelt mounting points
• Seats and seat mounting points
• Front passenger's weight sensors
• After a moderate to severe side or rear collision, inspect for any damage on the side curtain airbag or other related components. If the airbag is frayed, or has any other visible damage, replace it. Do not attempt to repair an airbag. If the clips are stress-whitened, replace them with new ones.
• Front Passenger's Weight Sensor, SRS Indicator Is On With SRS DTC 81-79 After Body Shop Repair 2007 -2008 (Acura ServiceNews Article 07110E )
