DISABLE PROCEDURE AND TIME (Always Check Service Manual)

NOTE: Some systems store data in memory that is lost when the battery is disconnected. Before disconnecting the battery, refer to Battery Terminal Disconnection and Reconnection.

Before doing any SRS repairs. Check the SRS DTCs for the less obvious deployed parts (seat belt tensioners, front impact sensors, side airbag sensors, etc.)

Before disconnecting the SRS unit connectors, always disconnect the appropriate SRS parts connectors.

1. Turn the ignition to LOCK (0)
2. Disconnect the negative cable from the battery
3. Wait at least 3 minutes before starting work

PARTS THAT MUST BE REPLACED FOLLOWING A DEPLOYMENT

After a collision where the seat belt tensioners deployed, replace these items:
• SRS unit [MODULE,AIRBAG CONTROL]
• Front seat belt(s)
• Front seat belt buckle tensioner(s)
• Front impact sensor(s) [AIRBAG SENSOR,FRT BMPR]
• Any damaged restraint system part

After a collision where the front airbag(s) deployed, replace these items:
• SRS unit [MODULE,AIRBAG CONTROL]
• Deployed front airbag(s)
• Front seat belt(s)
• Front seat belt buckle tensioner(s)
• Front impact sensor(s) [AIRBAG SENSOR,FRT BMPR]
• Any damaged restraint system part

After a collision where a seat side airbag deployed, replace the items for the side(s) that deployed:
• SRS unit [MODULE,AIRBAG CONTROL]
• Deployed side airbag(s) [AIRBAG,FRONT SEAT]
• Front seat belt(s)
• Side impact sensor(s) (first) [AIRBAG SENSOR,SIDE]
• Side impact sensor(s) (second) [AIRBAG SENSOR,QTR PANEL]
• Seat frame and related parts
• Any damaged restraint system part

After a collision where a side curtain airbag deployed, replace the items for the side(s) that deployed:
• SRS unit [MODULE,AIRBAG CONTROL]
• Deployed side curtain airbag(s) [AIRBAG,ROOF]
• Front seat belt(s), deployed side
• Side impact sensor(s) (first) [AIRBAG SENSOR,SIDE]
• Side impact sensor(s) (second)

• Front grab handle
• Rear grab handle (4-door)
• All related trim clips
• Any damaged restraint system part

PARTS THAT MUST BE INSPECTED AND REPLACED IF DAMAGED

After any airbag deployment:
• Inspect all the SRS wire harnesses. Replace, do not repair, any damaged harnesses
• Inspect the cable reel for heat damage. If there is any damage, replace the cable reel.
• After a vehicle collision, inspect the front seat active head restraints.
• ODS unit and operation check
• Seats and seat mounting points
• Seatbelts and seat mounting points
• Front Passenger's Weight Sensor Output Check
• Headliner
• After a moderate to severe side or rear collision, inspect for any damage on the side curtain airbag or other related components. Replace the components as needed.
• Never attempt to modify, splice, or repair SRS wiring. If there is an open or damage to the SRS wiring, replace the harness
• Do not replace the ODS unit unless it is physically damaged or a specific fault was found during DTC troubleshooting. Because it could complicate troubleshooting other DTCs
• Any restraint system part or wiring identified by diagnostic check
