DISABLE PROCEDURE AND TIME (Always Check Service Manual)

1. Make sure the wheels are in the straight-ahead position
2. Turn ignition switch to LOCK and remove key.
3. Remove battery cover.
4. Disconnect battery ground cable.
5. Wait at least 1 minute.

•••Radio code saving devices must not be used when conducting work on airbags.


WARNING: To avoid accidental deployment and possible personal injury, the backup power supply must be depleted before repairing or replacing any air bag supplemental restraint system (SRS) components. To deplete the backup power supply energy, disconnect the battery ground cable and wait one minute. Failure to follow this instruction may result in personal injury

PARTS THAT MUST BE REPLACED FOLLOWING A DEPLOYMENT

For a front airbag deployment:
• Deployed airbag modules
• Front and rear safety belt assemblies that were in use during deployment
• RCM module after 5 separate deployments
• Air bags modules with discolored or damage trim covers
• Any damaged or defective restraint system part

For a side airbag deployment:
• Front and rear safety belt assemblies that were in use during deployment
• RCM module after 5 separate deployments
• Air bags modules with discolored or damage trim covers
•Any damaged or defective restraint system part

For a curtain airbag deployment:
• Curtain airbag module [Roof airbag]
• New nylon thread forming inserts must be used ever time the screws are removed from the side air curtain
• Air bags modules with discolored or damage trim covers
• Any damaged or defective restraint system part

PARTS THAT MUST BE INSPECTED AND REPLACED IF DAMAGED

For a front airbag deployment:
• Clockspring
• Front and rear safety belt assemblies not in use during deployment
• Seats and seat mounting points
• Safety belt buckles
• Safety belt buckle support assemblies (slider bar)
• Child safety seat tether brackets and hardware
• RCM module mounting points
• ECS module
• Airbag trim covers
• All airbag sensors
• All sensor brackets and mounting points
• Active Head Restraint System
• Sensor wiring pigtail
• Any restraint system part or wiring identified by the restraint diagnostic checks

For a side airbag deployment:
• Front and rear safety belt assemblies not in use during deployment
• Seats and seat mounting points
• Safety belt buckles
• Safety belt buckle support assemblies (slider bar)
• Child safety seat tether brackets and hardware
• All airbag sensors
• All sensor brackets and mounting points
• Active Head Restraint System
• RCM module mounting points
• ECS module
• Any restraint system part or wiring identified by the restraint diagnostic checks

For a curtain airbag deployment:
• Headliner
• A, B, and C pillar trim panels
• Front and rear safety belt assemblies not in use during deployment
• Seats and seat mounting points
• Safety belt buckles
• Safety belt buckle support assemblies (slider bar)
• Child safety seat tether brackets and hardware
• Active Head Restraint System
• ECS module
• All airbag sensors
• All sensor brackets and mounting points
• Any restraint system part or wiring identified by the restraint diagnostic checks
