DISABLE PROCEDURE AND TIME (Always Check Service Manual)

Before doing any SRS repairs, check the DTCs for the less obvious deployed components (seat belt tensioners, front impact sensors, side airbag sensors, etc.)

Make sure you have the anti-theft code(s) for the audio system and/or the audio-navigation system (if equipped).

Before disconnecting the SRS unit connectors, always disconnect the appropriate SRS parts connectors.

1. Make sure the ignition switch is in LOCK (0), or the vehicle ignition in the OFF mode.
2. Disconnect and isolate the negative cable from the battery.
3. Wait at least 3 minutes before starting work

PARTS THAT MUST BE REPLACED FOLLOWING A DEPLOYMENT

After a collision where the seat belt tensioners deployed, replace these items:
• SRS unit [MODULE,AIRBAG CONTROL]
• Seat belt tensioners
• Seat belt buckle tensioners
• Front impact sensors [AIRBAG SENSOR,FENDER]

After a collision where the front airbag(s) deployed, replace these items:
• SRS unit [MODULE,AIRBAG CONTROL]
• Steering Wheel Mounted Airbag, (If Deployed) [AIRBAG,STEERING WHEEL]
• Passenger Instrument Panel Mounted Airbag, (If Deployed) [AIRBAG,INSTRUMENT PNL]
• Seat belt tensioners
• Seat belt buckle tensioners
• Front impact sensors [AIRBAG SENSOR,FENDER]

After a collision where the side airbag(s) deployed, replace these items:
• SRS unit [MODULE,AIRBAG CONTROL]
• Driver's side seat airbag, (If Deployed)
• Passenger's side seat airbag, (If Deployed)
• Side impact sensor(s) (first) [AIRBAG SENSOR,SIDE]
• Side impact sensor(s) (second) [AIRBAG SENSOR,QTR PANEL]
• B-pillar lower trim
• Seat frame and related parts
• All related trim clips
• Seat belt tensioners
• Seat belt buckle tensioners

After a collision where the side airbag was deployed, replace the side airbag and the seat frame and related parts with new parts. If the seat-back cover/pad is split, it must be replaced

After a collision where the side curtain airbag(s) deployed, replace these items:
• SRS unit [MODULE,AIRBAG CONTROL]
• Left side curtain airbag [AIRBAG,ROOF], (If Deployed)
• Right side curtain airbag [AIRBAG,ROOF], (If Deployed)
• Seat belt tensioner(s) for the side(s) that deployed
• Seat belt buckle tensioner(s) for the side(s) that deployed
• Side impact sensor(s) (first) [AIRBAG SENSOR,SIDE]
• Side impact sensor(s) (second) [AIRBAG SENSOR,QTR PANEL]
• Roof trim/ Headliner
• A-pillar trim
• B-pillar upper trim
• B-pillar lower trim
• C-pillar trim
• Front grab handle
• Rear grab handle
• All related trim clips
• Sunvisor, on the deployed side

If the side curtain airbag has deployed, replace the headliner and the sunvisor on deployed side, along with the other parts listed for side curtain airbag deployment

PARTS THAT MUST BE INSPECTED AND REPLACED IF DAMAGED

• After a vehicle collision, do the ODS unit operation check
• ODS Unit; Do not replace the ODS unit unless it is physically damaged or a specific fault was found during DTC troubleshooting
• After a vehicle collision, inspect the front seat active head restraints
• Inspect all the SRS wire harnesses. Replace, do not repair, any damaged harnesses
• Inspect the cable reel for heat damage. If there is any damage, replace the cable reel [CLOCK SPRING]
• Seats and seat mounting points
• Seatbelts and seatbelt mounting points
• After a moderate to severe side or rear collision, inspect for any damage on the side curtain airbag or other related components. If the airbag is frayed, or has any other visible damage, replace it. Do not attempt to repair an airbag. If the clips are stress-whitened, replace them with new ones.

• Replace all damaged parts
