DISABLE PROCEDURE AND TIME (Always Check Service Manual)

Before doing any SRS repairs, check the DTCs for the less obvious deployed components (seat belt tensioners, front impact sensors, side airbag sensors, etc.)

Do not replace the OPDS unit ('07 model) or ODS unit ('08-10 models) unless it is physically damaged or a specific fault was found during DTC troubleshooting

Before removing the SRS unit connectors, always disconnect the appropriate SRS parts connectors.

1. Make sure the ignition switch is in LOCK (0).
2. Disconnect the battery negative cable
3. Wait at least 3 minutes.

PARTS THAT MUST BE REPLACED FOLLOWING A DEPLOYMENT

After a collision where the seat belt tensioners deployed, replace these items:

• SRS unit [MODULE,AIRBAG CONTROL]
• Seat belt tensioners
• Front impact sensors [AIRBAG SENSOR,FRT BMPR]
• Any damaged restraint system part

After a collision where the front airbag(s) deployed, replace these items:
• SRS unit [MODULE,AIRBAG CONTROL]
• Driver's Steering Wheel Mounted Airbag, If Deployed; [AIRBAG, STEERING WHEEL]
• Passenger's Instrument Panel Mounted Airbag, If Deployed; [AIRBAG,INSTRUMENT PNL]
• Seat belt tensioners
• Front impact sensors [AIRBAG SENSOR,FRT BMPR]
• Any damaged restraint system part

After a collision where the side airbag(s) deployed, replace these items for the side(s) that deployed:

• SRS unit [MODULE,AIRBAG CONTROL]
• Reinforcing cloth rear hooks
• Driver's side seat airbag [AIRBAG,FRONT SEAT] and the attachment wire, if deployed
• Passenger's side seat airbag [AIRBAG,FRONT SEAT] and the attachment wire, if deployed
• Side impact sensor(s) (first) [AIRBAG SENSOR,SIDE]
• Side impact sensor(s) (second) [AIRBAG SENSOR,FLOOR MTD]
• Side impact sensor(s) (third) [AIRBAG SENSOR,INTERIOR]
• Front seat assembly (impact side) [sold as individual parts] After a collision where the side airbag was deployed, replace the side airbag and the seat frame and related parts with new parts. If the seat-back cushion is split, it must be replaced.
• Any damaged restraint system part

After a collision where a side curtain airbag deployed, replace the items for the side(s) that deployed:

• SRS unit [MODULE,AIRBAG CONTROL]
• Left Side curtain airbag [AIRBAG,ROOF], if deployed
• Right Side curtain airbag [AIRBAG,ROOF], if deployed
• Seat belt tensioner(s)
• Side impact sensor(s) (first) [AIRBAG SENSOR,SIDE]
• Side impact sensor(s) (second) [AIRBAG SENSOR,FLOOR MTD]
• Side impact sensor(s) (third) [AIRBAG SENSOR,INTERIOR]
• Rear safing sensor [AIRBAG SENSOR,INTERIOR]
• Roof trim/ Headliner
• Front grab handle
• All grab handle brackets
• Shielding protector
• A-pillar trim
• B-pillar upper trim
• C-pillar trim
• D-pillar trim
• Any related trim clips
• Sunvisor
• Any damaged restraint system part

PARTS THAT MUST BE INSPECTED AND REPLACED IF DAMAGED

• After a vehicle collision, do the front passenger's weight sensor unit ('07 model) or ODS unit ('08-10 model) operation check
• Active head restraints
• Seats and seat mounting points
• Seatbelts and seatbelt mounting points
• During the repair process,inspect these areas:
• Inspect all the SRS wire harnesses. Replace, do not repair, any damaged harnesses
• Inspect the cable reel for heat damage. If there is any damage, replace the cable reel [CLOCK SPRING]
• After a moderate to severe side or rear collision, inspect for any damage on the side curtain airbag or other related components. Replace the components as needed
• Any restraint system part or wiring identified by diagnostic check
