DISABLE PROCEDURE AND TIME (Always Check Service Manual)

Before removing the air bag inflator or disconnecting the air bag inflator connector:

1) Always switch the ignition off
2) Disconnect the negative battery cable
3) wait for 1 min or more to allow the backup power supply of the center airbag sensor assembly to deplete its stored power

PARTS THAT MUST BE REPLACED FOLLOWING A DEPLOYMENT

Front Seat Side Airbag Assembly Handling:
• After a side air bag has operated (deployed), always replace the front seat side airbag assembly and the seat back (pad, frame, trim) with new parts. [AIRBAG,FRONT SEAT BACK]

Center Airbag Sensor Assembly Handling:
• Once the air bags, pretensioner seat belts and lap pre-tensioner seat belts have operated (deployed) due to a collision or other causes, the center airbag sensor assembly must be replaced with a new one. [MODULE,AIRBAG CONTROL]

Front Airbag Sensor Handling:
• Once the air bags, pre-tensioner seat belts and lap pre-tensioner seat belts have operated (deployed) due to a collision or other causes, the front airbag sensor must be replaced with a new one. [AIRBAG SENSOR,FRONT]

Side Airbag Sensor (for Center Pillar) Handling:
• Once the air bag has operated (deployed) due to a collision or other causes, the side air bag sensor (for center pillar) must be replaced with a new one. [AIRBAG SENSOR,SIDE]

Side Airbag Sensor (for Front Door) Handling:
• Once the air bag has operated (deployed) due to a collision or other causes, the side air bag sensor (for front door) must be replaced with a new one. [AIRBAG SENSOR,FRT DOOR]

PARTS THAT MUST BE INSPECTED AND REPLACED IF DAMAGED

• Always use the on-board diagnostic function to diagnose the pre-tensioner seat belt and lap Pre-tensioner Seat Belt for malfunctions.

Air bag inflator, Pre-tensioner Seat Belt, Lap re-tensioner Seat Belt Reuse:
• Before reusing a live (undeployed) air bag inflator, pre-tensioner seat belt or a lap pre-tensioner seat belt, always use the on-board diagnostic to diagnose the air bag inflator, pre-tensioner seat belt or a lap pre-tensioner seat belt to verify that they have no malfunction.

Air Bag Wiring Harness Repair:
• If a problem is found in the air bag wiring harness, always replace the wiring harness with a new one.
