DISABLE PROCEDURE AND TIME (Always Check Service Manual)
NOTE:With “A/B” fuse removed and ignition switch ON, “AIR BAG” warning light will be ON. This is normal operation and does not indicate air bag system malfunction.
1. Turn the steering wheel so that the vehicle's wheels are pointing straight ahead.
2. Disconnect the negative battery cable at battery.
3. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK position and remove key.
4. Remove “A/B” fuse from fuse box
5. Remove driver side front pillar lower trim and disconnect yellow connector for driver air bag as follows.
a) Release locking of lock slider .
b) After unlocked, disconnect connector
6. Remove passenger side front pillar lower trim and disconnect yellow connector for passenger air bag as follows.
a) Release locking of lock slider.
b) After unlocked, disconnect connector.
7. Disconnect yellow connector of side-air bag (inflator) module under front seat cushion.
a) Release locking of lock slider.
b) After unlocked, disconnect connector.
8) Disconnect connector of side curtain-air bag (inflator) module as follows.
For hatchback model:
a) Remove right-side rear quarter lower trim.
b) Release locking of lock slider of yellow connector.
c) With unlocked, disconnect connector
For sedan model with rear separate seat:
a) Remove rear side sill scuff referring to step of Front Bumper and Rear Bumper Components.
b) Remove rear seat side back.
c) Remove rear pillar inner trim.
d) Unlock lock button of black connector.
e) With lock button unlocked, disconnect connector
For sedan model with rear bench seat:
a) Remove seat cushion and seat back referring to Rear Seat Components.
b) Remove rear pillar inner trim.
c) Unlock lock button of black connector.
d) With lock button unlocked, disconnect connector.

PARTS THAT MUST BE REPLACED FOLLOWING A DEPLOYMENT
When driver and passenger air bags are deployed, the following components must be replaced:• Driver and passenger air bag (inflator) modules [AIRBAG,STEERING WHEEL; AIRBAG,INSTRUMENT PNL]
• Driver and passenger seat belt pretensioners
• SDM [MODULE,AIRBAG CONTROL]
• Driver / Passenger forward impact-sensors [AIRBAG SENSOR,FRONT]
• Instrument panel
• Driver seat position sensor
• Passenger seat cushion including OCM with sensor mat
When side-air bag and side curtain-air bag are deployed, the following components must be replaced:
• Deployed side-air bag (inflator) module [AIRBAG,FRONT SEAT]
• Deployed side curtain-air bag (inflator) module [AIRBAG,ROOF]
• Side impact-sensor [AIRBAG SENSOR,SIDE]
• SDM [MODULE,AIRBAG CONTROL]
• Driver seat position sensor
• Passenger seat cushion including OCM with sensor mat [AIRBAG SNSR & CUSHION]
WARNING:
If replacing seat belt is necessary, replace buckle and seat belt together as a set. This is for the reason of ensuring locking of tongue plate with buckle. If these parts are replaced individually, such a locking condition may become unreliable. For this reason, SUZUKI will supply only the spare buckle and seat belt assembly in a set part
PARTS THAT MUST BE INSPECTED AND REPLACED IF DAMAGED
For any vehicle that was involved in an accident, be sure to inspect all air bag system components including the electrical harness and the areas where they are mounted, even if the air bag system was not activated. Any components deformed or otherwise damaged must be replaced.Accident with or without Deployment / Activation – Component
Inspections:
• Steering column and shaft joints
• Steering wheel and driver air bag (inflator) module
• Contact coil
• Instrument panel member, reinforcement
• Passenger air bag (inflator) module
• Air bag wire harness and connections
• Forward impact-sensor
• Side-impact sensor
• Seat belt pretensioner
• Seat belts and mounting points
• “AIR BAG” warning light
• OCM with sensor mat (built in seat cushion)
• Side-air bag (inflator) module
• Curtain air bag (inflator) module
• Headliner
• Seat belt buckle sensor
• Driver seat position sensor
