DISABLE PROCEDURE AND TIME (Always Check Service Manual)
• When disconnecting or connecting air bag system connectors.• When removing or installing air bag system components. Disconnect negative (–) cable at battery.
• When servicing air bag system, related parts or working around air bag (inflator) module. (If ignition mode does not change to ON)
1) Set front wheels in straight-ahead position.
2) Push engine switch to change ignition mode to “OFF”.
3) Disconnect negative (–) cable at battery.
4) Wait for at least 90 seconds after performing Step 3), and then start working.
• When performing electric welding.
• When there is a possibility that air bag system or related parts would be heated up with 93 °C (200 °F) and more by electric welding or paint baking process.
1) Set front wheels in straight-ahead position.
2) Push engine switch to change ignition mode to “OFF”.
3) Disconnect negative (–) cable at battery.
4) Wait for at least 90 seconds after performing Step 3).
5) Remove all air bag (inflator) modules and start working

PARTS THAT MUST BE REPLACED FOLLOWING A DEPLOYMENT
Replace the following components when driver and passenger air bags are deployed.• Driver and passenger air bag (inflator) modules [AIRBAG,STEERING WHEEL; AIRBAG,INSTRUMENT PNL]
• Deployed Driver and passenger seat belt pretensioners
• Deployed Driver and passenger lap pretensioners
• SDM [MODULE,AIRBAG CONTROL]
• Driver / Passenger forward impact sensors [AIRBAG SENSOR,FRONT]
• Instrument panel [Passenger air bag deployed]
• Passenger seat cushion including OCM with sensor mat [AIRBAG SNSR & CUSHION]
Replace the following components when side air bag, rear side air bag and side curtain air bag
are deployed.
• Deployed side air bag (inflator) module [AIRBAG,FRONT SEAT]
• Deployed rear side air bag (inflator) module [AIRBAG,QTR PANEL]
• Deployed side curtain air bag (inflator) module [AIRBAG,ROOF]
• Side impact sensor [AIRBAG SENSOR,FRT DOOR]
• Side rear impact sensor [AIRBAG SENSOR,QTR PANEL]
• SDM [MODULE,AIRBAG CONTROL]
• Passenger seat cushion including OCM with sensor mat [AIRBAG SNSR & CUSHION]
PARTS THAT MUST BE INSPECTED AND REPLACED IF DAMAGED
Inspect the following air bag system components after any crash, whether air bag system was activated or not. If any faulty condition is found in the following checks, replace faulty component• Steering column and steering lower shaft
• Steering column bracket
• Steering wheel and driver air bag (inflator) module
• Contact coil assembly [CLOCK SPRING]
• Instrument panel member and reinforcement
• Passenger air bag (inflator) module
• SDM
• Air bag wire harnesses and connectors
• Forward impact sensor
• Side impact sensor
• Side rear impact sensor
• Seat belt pretensioner and lap pretensioner
• Seat belts and mounting points
• “AIR BAG” warning light
• OCM with sensor mat (built in seat cushion)
• Side air bag (inflator) module
• Side rear air bag (inflator) module
• Side curtain air bag (inflator) module
• Seat belt buckle sensor
All air bag system components and their mounting points, including electrical harness, must be inspected after an accident. If any component is damaged or deformed, it must be replaced even if air bag system has not activated
