DISABLE PROCEDURE AND TIME (Always Check Service Manual)
Before servicing the SRS:1. Turn ignition switch OFF.
2. Disconnect both battery terminals.
3. Wait at least three minutes.
For approximately 3 minutes after the cables are removed, it is still possible for the air bag and seat belt pre-tensioner to deploy. Therefore, do not work on any SRS connectors or wires until at least 3 minutes have passed
REV: 10/2012
PARTS THAT MUST BE REPLACED FOLLOWING A DEPLOYMENT
For frontal collision:• If the driver air bag has deployed: REPLACE Install with new fasteners [AIRBAG,STEERING WHEEL]
• If the front passenger air bag has deployed: REPLACE Install with new fasteners [AIRBAG,INSTRUMENT PNL]
• If any of the front air bags or seat belt pre-tensioners have been activated: REPLACE the crash zone sensor and bracket with new fasteners [AIRBAG SENSOR,FRONT]
• Replace Activated seat belt pre-tensioner assemblies, install with new fasteners
• If any of the SRS components have been activated: REPLACE the diagnosis sensor unit. Install with new fasteners. [MODULE,AIRBAG CONTROL]
• If the driver front air bag has deployed: REPLACE the spiral cable [CLOCK SPRING/LVR,STRG ]
• If the passenger front air bag has deployed: REPLACE the instrument panel assembly.
For side and rollover collision:
• If the LH side curtain air bag has deployed: REPLACE the LH side curtain air bag module. [AIRBAG,ROOF]
• If the RH side curtain air bag has deployed: REPLACE the RH side curtain air bag module. [AIRBAG,ROOF]
• If the front LH side air bag has deployed: REPLACE front LH seatback assembly [AIRBAG & SEAT BACK ASSY]
• If the front RH side air bag has deployed: REPLACE front RH seatback assembly [AIRBAG & SEAT BACK ASSY]
• If any of the SRS components have deployed: REPLACE the side air bag (satellite) sensor on the collision side with new fasteners. [AIRBAG SENSOR,SIDE]
• If any of the SRS components have been activated: REPLACE the diagnosis sensor unit. Install with new fasteners. [MODULE,AIRBAG CONTROL]
• Replace Activated seat belt pre-tensioner assemblies, install with new fasteners
PARTS THAT MUST BE INSPECTED AND REPLACED IF DAMAGED
Conduct “DTC check” using SDT and “AIR BAG” warning lamp.• Replace any SRS components and the related parts showing visible signs of damage (dents, cracks, deformation).
• Do not attempt to repair or replace damaged direct-connect SRS component connectors. If a direct-connect harness connector is damaged, the harness must be replaced.
• Inspect all seat belt assemblies including retractors and attaching hardware after any collision
• SUZUKI recommends that all seat belt assemblies in use during a collision be replaced unless the collision was minor and the belts show no damage and continue to operate properly. Seat belt pre-tensioner should be replaced even if the seat belts are not in use during a frontal collision in which the air bags are deployed.
For frontal collision:
• Confirm seat belt pre-tensioner activation using SDT only.
• Seat belt pre-tensioner assemblies
• Steering wheel
• Occupant classification system (Passenger seat)
• Harness and connectors
• Check instrument panel
For side and rollover collision:
• Curtain air bag
• Seat back on the collision side.
• Harness and connectors
• If damaged—REPLACE the front seatback assembly
• Side air bag (satellite) sensor on the collision side
• Seat on the collision side
• Center inner pillar on the collision side for damage (dents, cracks, deformation).
• Trim/headlining
