DISABLE PROCEDURE AND TIME (Always Check Service Manual)
Use the PIWIS Tester 9718, read out the fault memory1. Remove ignition key.
2. Disconnect and cover the negative terminal of the battery.
3. Wait 1 minute.
Never drive with an airbag triggering unit that has not been taught.
The airbag triggering unit must be taught using the PIWIS Tester 97180! Until the airbag triggering unit has been taught, the warning light lights up continuously.
Airbag components must not be repaired. Airbag components must always be replaced

PARTS THAT MUST BE REPLACED FOLLOWING A DEPLOYMENT
Component exchange after airbag/belt tensioner triggering:• Contact unit [CLOCK SPRING], if steering wheel airbag deployed
• Airbag unit, driver [AIRBAG, STEERING WHEEL], if deployed
• Airbag unit, passenger [AIRBAG,INSTRUMENT PNL], if deployed
• Instrument panel, if passenger airbag deployed
• Side airbag unit, seat [AIRBAG,FRONT SEAT], if deployed
• Deformed or damaged components on the seat, if seat airbag deployed
• Sensor for the side airbag unit [AIRBAG SENSOR,SIDE, AIRBAG SENSOR,QTR PANEL] after the third time the side airbag is triggered
• Head airbag unit [AIRBAG,ROOF], if deployed
• Seatbelt tensioner units, if triggered
• Always replace fasteners
• Any damaged restraint system part
PARTS THAT MUST BE INSPECTED AND REPLACED IF DAMAGED
• Steering Wheel• Steering column
• Check instrument panel bracket for deformation and replace if necessary
• Seats and seat mounting points
• Seatbelt Assemblies and mounting points
• Because it is difficult to visually determine if one or more belt tensioners has been triggered, check the following points:
• Read out the airbag fault memory with the Porsche System Tester.
• Check plug connection on the belt tensioner for damage.
• Pull out the belt strap as far as possible and check for wear.
• Perform a function test on the automatic belt device
• Any restraint system part or wiring identified by diagnostic check
