2007 INFINITI QX56

DISABLE PROCEDURE AND TIME (Always Check Service Manual)

WARNING:
To avoid rendering the SRS inoperative, which could increase the risk of personal injury or death in the event of a collision which would result in air bag inflation, all maintenance must be performed by an authorized NISSAN/INFINITI dealer.

1. Turn the ignition switch off.
2. Disconnect both battery cables.
3. Wait at least 3 minutes.

After the work is completed, Conduct self-diagnosis using CONSULT-III and “AIR BAG” warning lamp

REV: 08/2010

PARTS THAT MUST BE REPLACED FOLLOWING A DEPLOYMENT

FOR FRONTAL COLLISION : When SRS has deployed in a collision:
• If the driver air bag [AIRBAG,STEERING WHEEL] has deployed:
REPLACE Install with new fasteners.
• If the front passenger air bag [AIRBAG,INSTRUMENT PNL] has deployed: REPLACE Install with new fasteners
• If any of the front air bags or seat belt pre-tensioners have been activated: REPLACE the crash zone sensor [AIRBAG SENSOR,FRONT] and bracket with new fasteners
• If either the driver or passenger seat belt pre-tensioner• has been activated: REPLACE all seat belt pre-tensioner assemblies with new fasteners.(per INFINITI)
• If any of the SRS components have been activated: REPLACE the diagnosis sensor unit [MODULE, AIRBAG CONTROL]
• If the driver front airbag has deployed: REPLACE the spiral
cable.
• If the passenger front air bag has deployed: REPLACE the instrument
panel assembly
• Never use the old fixing nuts after removal, replace with the new nuts
• Any damaged restraint system part

FOR SIDE AND ROLLOVER COLLISION: When SRS has deployed in a collision
• If the side curtain air bag [AIRBAG,ROOF] LH has deployed: REPLACE the side curtain air bag module LH
• If the side curtain air bag [AIRBAG,ROOF] RH has deployed: REPLACE the side curtain air bag module RH
• If the front side air bag [AIRBAG & SEAT BACK ASSY] LH has deployed: REPLACE front seatback assembly LH.
• If the front side air bag [AIRBAG & SEAT BACK ASSY] RH has deployed: REPLACE front seatback assembly RH
• If any of the SRS components have deployed: REPLACE the side air bag (satellite) sensor [AIRBAG SENSOR,INTERIOR] on the collision side with new fasteners
• If any of the SRS components have been activated: REPLACE the diagnosis sensor unit [MODULE,AIRBAG CONTROL]
• If either the driver or passenger seat belt pre-tensioner• has been activated: REPLACE all seat belt pre-tensioner assemblies with new fasteners.(per INFINITI)
• Any damaged restraint system part

PARTS THAT MUST BE INSPECTED AND REPLACED IF DAMAGED

For a front air bag deployment:
• Steering wheel
• Steering wheel harness, connectors and terminals
• Wiring harness, connectors and terminals
• After air bag inflates, the front instrument panel assembly should be replaced if damaged.
• All seat belt assemblies including retractors and attaching hardware
• If any component of seat belt assembly is questionable, do not repair. Replace the entire seat belt
assembly
• Occupant classification system
(Passenger seat)
• Replace any SRS components showing visible signs of damage. (dents, cracks and deformation, etc.)
• Inspect all seat belt assemblies including retractors and attached hardware after any collision.
NISSAN recommends that all seat belt assemblies in use during a collision be replaced unless the collision
was minor and the belts show no damage and continue to operate properly.
• Any restraint system part or wiring identified by diagnostic check

For a side air bag deployment:
• Trim/headliner
• Center inner pillar on the collision side for damage (dents, cracks, deformation), repair if damaged
• Check for visible signs of damage (dents, cracks, deformation, etc.) of the interior trim on the
collision side
• All seat belt assemblies including retractors and attaching hardware
• If any component of seat belt assembly is questionable, do not repair. Replace the entire seat belt
assembly
Replace any seat belt assembly (including anchor bolts) if:
The seat belt was in use at the time of a collision (except for minor collisions and the belts, retractors and
buckles show no damage and continue to operate properly). The seat belt was damaged in an accident (i.e. torn webbing, bent retractor or guide). The seat belt attaching point was damaged in an accident. Inspect the seat belt attaching area for damage or distortion and repair as necessary before installing a new seat belt assembly. Anchor bolts are deformed or worn out.
• Replace any SRS components showing visible signs of damage. (dents, cracks and deformation, etc.)
• Any restraint system part or wiring identified by diagnostic check
