DISABLE PROCEDURE AND TIME (Always Check Service Manual)

WARNING:
To avoid rendering the SRS inoperative, which could increase the risk of personal injury or death in the event of a collision which would result in air bag inflation, all maintenance should be performed by an authorized NISSAN/INFINITI dealer.

1. Turn the ignition switch OFF.
2. Disconnect both battery cables.
3. Wait at least 3 minutes.

Always use CONSULT-III to perform self-diagnosis as a part of each function inspection after finishing work

PARTS THAT MUST BE REPLACED FOLLOWING A DEPLOYMENT

For a front airbag deployment:
• If the Driver air bag has deployed:
REPLACE
• If the Passenger front air bag has deployed: REPLACE
• If any of the front air bags or seat belt pretensioners have been activated: REPLACE the crash zone sensor and bracket with new fasteners
• If the driver or passenger Seat belt pre-tensioner has been activated:
REPLACE the seat belt pre-tensioner
assemblies with new fasteners
• If any of the SRS components have been activated: REPLACE the Diagnosis sensor unit. Install with new fasteners.
• If the Driver air bag has deployed:
REPLACE the spiral cable.
• Always replace instrument panel pad following front passenger air bag deployment
• Always install with new fasteners
• Any damaged restraint system part

For a side airbag deployment:
• All parts of front seatback (including front seatback frame) with front side air bag module (on the side on
which front side air bag is activated)
• Side curtain air bag module (on the side on which the side curtain airbag has deployed)
• Diagnosis sensor unit
• Satellite sensor (on the side on which side air bag and side curtain air bag has deployed)
• Always install with new fasteners
• Any damaged restraint system part

PARTS THAT MUST BE INSPECTED AND REPLACED IF DAMAGED

For a front airbag deployment:
• Steering wheel
• Occupant Classification System
• Steering wheel harness, connectors and terminals
• Wiring harness, connectors and terminals
• After air bag inflates, the front instrument panel assembly should be replaced if damaged
• Seats and seat mounting points
Replace any seat belt assembly (including anchor bolts) if:
The seat belt was in use at the time of a collision (except for minor collisions and the belts, retractors and
buckles show no damage and continue to operate properly). The seat belt was damaged in an accident (i.e. torn webbing, bent retractor or guide). The seat belt attaching point was damaged in an accident. Inspect the seat belt attaching area for damage or distortion and repair as necessary before installing a new seat belt assembly. Anchor bolts are deformed or worn out.
• Do not repair, splice or modify the SRS wiring harness. If the harness is damaged, replace it with a
new one
• Always install with new fasteners
• Replace any SRS components showing visible signs of damage (dents, cracks and deformation).
• Any restraint system part or wiring identified by diagnostic check

For a side airbag deployment:
• Replace occupant classification system control unit and passenger front seat cushion as an assembly, if replacement is required
• Center inner pillar on the collision side for damage (dents, cracks, deformation), repair if damaged
• Trim/Headliner
If the harness is damaged, replace it with a
new one
• Seats and seat mounting points
• Trim/headlining: Check for visible signs of damage (dents, cracks, deformation) of the interior trim on the collision side
• Always install with new fasteners
• Replace any SRS components showing visible signs of damage (dents, cracks and deformation).
• Any restraint system part or wiring identified by diagnostic check
