Accessing Disable Procedure

To find the Audi High-Voltage Disable Procedures:

  1. Go to www.erwin.audiusa.com
  2. Enter username and password (right side of page)
  3. Click Login
  4. Click OK (pop up window)
  5. Click Search (tabs across the top of page)
  6. Click Vehicle Identification Number or select Guided Search (tabs in center of the webpage)
  7. Enter the VIN (vehicle identification number) or select Year and Model (guided search)
  8. Category 1 select Repair Manual
  9. Click Search
  10. From the list, select Electrical System Hybrid (click download document icon to the right of the document you want to view)
  11. Click OK (pop up window)
  12. Scroll down to the last page and click OK
  13. Scroll down to the table of contents and click 9 High Voltage System, De-Energizing

Hybrid And Electric Vehicle Welding Best Practices

When welding on an HEV or EV, follow the same precautions as when welding on a conventional vehicle. In addition, there are precautions to take with the high-voltage battery. As a best practice, disconnect both the 12 V battery and the high-voltage battery service disconnect. (Note: Always disable the high-voltage battery following the vehicle makers repair information and follow all safety precautions.)

Refinish Precautions

"Audi high-voltage vehicles are equipped with a powerful lithium-ion battery. This type of battery is functional only up to 55°C (131°F). The cells can get damaged when the temperature goes above 70°C (158°F).

In order to not exceed 70°C (158°F), do not leave an Audi high-voltage vehicles longer than 60 minutes in the paint drying cabin."
