Accessing Disable Procedure

To find the Mitsubishi High-Voltage Disable Procedures:

  1. Go to mitsubishitechinfo.com
  2. Enter username and password (top left corner of webpage)
  3. Click Login
  4. Click Continue (middle left of webpage)
  5. Click Service Information (top left of webpage)
  6. Click Click Here (middle of webpage)
  7. Enter vehicle
    • option 1: Enter VIN
    • option 2: Select from dropdown menu Year and Model
  8. Click Service Manual (near bottom of dropdown)
  9. Select blue link under the box with vehicle information that says Click Here to view the table of contents for the Service Manual
  10. Click Electric Motor Control Unit (EMCU) and Motor (Electric Motor Unit) (dropdown menu appears)
  11. Click Precautions on How to Handle the High-Voltage Vehicle from dropdown (pop-up window opens)
  12. After page loads, scroll down to Service Plug and Service Lid Removal Steps



Hybrid And Electric Vehicle Welding Best Practices

When welding on a hybrid vehicle or electric vehicle, follow the same precautions as when welding on a conventional vehicle. In addition, there are precautions to take with the high-voltage battery. As a best practice, disconnect both the 12 V battery and the high-voltage battery service disconnect. (Note: Always disable the high-voltage battery following the vehicle makers repair information and follow all safety precautions.)


Refinish Precautions

"The High-Voltage Traction Battery (HVTB) in a Hybrid Electric Vehicle (HEV) can be affected and damaged by excessively high temperatures. The temperature in some body shop paint booths can exceed 60°C (140°F). Therefore, during refinishing operations, the paint booth temperature must be set at or below 60°C (140°F) with a bake time of 45 minutes or less. Temperatures in excess of 60°C (140°F) or bake durations longer than 45 minutes will require the HVTB be removed from the vehicle prior to placing in the paint booth." (ambient temperature)
