- Day 4: MET Bodyshop Mechanical and Trim Processes
- Day 5: MET Bodyshop Steering and Wheel Alignment
CDMS03221 - MET Basic Electrics
Aims to provide classroom and practical activities, to introduce and develop the underpinning knowledge required to interpret basic vehicle electrical system operation.
Objectives:
- Identify the fundamental electrical principles that apply to vehicle electrical systems.
- Accurately measure voltage, resistance and current.
- Differentiate between series and parallel circuits, detailing realistic vehicle circuits for comparison.
- Describe the different battery types, care, and charging of vehicle batteries.
- Describe quiescent current/parasitic drain in vehicle electrical systems.
- Identify basic electrical components and recognize their function within a circuit.
- Begin to develop the skills to interpret electrical wiring diagrams on Topix.
CD2503538 - MET Bodyshop Air Conditioning Systems
Gives technicians the Skills and Knowledge to safely and correctly recover and recharge a vehicles’ Air Conditioning refrigerant within a Bodyshop environment to JLR standards.
Objectives:
- Recall specific information from previous eLearning materials.
- Demonstrate compliance with health and safety regulations and best practices.
- Demonstrate safe operation of all tooling and equipment.
- Complete refrigerant recovery and recharge an air conditioning system.
- Replace a component in a damaged air conditioning system.
CD2503585 - MET Bodyshop Mechanical and Trim Processes
Gives the technician the skills to complete Mechanical Electrical Trim (MET) operations in a bodyshop environment to Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) standards.
Objectives:
- Recall specific information from previous eLearning materials.
- Demonstrate the ability to service a vehicle’s cooling system, accurately perform headlamp alignment, and safely remove and reinstall an SRS component, then peer-teach these skills to colleagues.
- Demonstrate headlamp measurement and alignment procedures that meet JLR specifications.
- Demonstrate the safe removal and reinstallation of supplementary restraint system (SRS) components.
- Demonstrate the draining and recharging of the vehicle's cooling system to JLR specifications.
CD2503586 - MET Bodyshop Steering and Wheel Alignment
Gives Bodyshop technicians the skills and knowledge to complete a wheel alignment measurement and return a vehicle to the correct specification.
Objectives:
- Recall specific information from previous eLearning materials.
- Identify steering and suspension components.
- Describe the wheel alignment measurement pre-checks.
- Demonstrate wheel alignment measurement and adjustment procedures.
- Interpret data following a wheel alignment measurement.
