Ford does not have a sectioning procedure for the front lower rail.
Per the 2013 Ford Explorer Workshop manual: "NOTICE: Frame members are a combination of HSLA and UHSS . Because of this design feature, sectioning is not recognized by Ford Motor Company. Frame Members must be replaced at the factory seams.
Install replacement frame members at the factory seams and weld as required. Factory spot welds may be replaced with MIG plug welds or STRW . Spot welds must equal factory welds in location and quantity."
