Ask I-CAR

Per I-CAR curriculum: “I-CAR is not in the position to make specific recommendations about which parts should be used. Rather, I-CAR is dedicated to providing those in the industry with the necessary knowledge and skills relevant to their position to achieve a complete and safe repair. Part selection is a business decision that must be agreed upon by all parties involved in the repair process.”

When determining if a recycled part can be used, part attachment and layering are considerations. If you are unable to remove the part without destroying the mounting location, then the next option would be the possibility of replacing it in conjunction with adjacent panels as an assembly. If adjacent panels cannot be accessed, then the part may not be a candidate for replacement with a recycled part.
