Per I-CAR curriculum: “Driver, passenger, side, and curtain airbags are not to be used if submerged. Generally, if the water reaches these points on a vehicle, the vehicle is totaled since the water has risen at least to the instrument panel. However, as with all restraint system parts, these should also not be recycled and used on collision-damaged vehicles.”
