What does I-CAR say about replacing the cowl panel?

Response

Per I-CAR curriculum: "The cowl panel, sometimes called the dash panel, is not often repaired. Vehicles with damage that deep into the structure may have too many other issues, and oftentimes it is a total loss. Upper cowl panel replacement may require VIN transfer.

Repairs to the cowl may require removal of vehicle parts in the area of the damage. This may include the:

  • Engine and transmission assembly.
  • Windshield.
  • Heating, ventilating, and air conditioning parts.
  • Instrument panel.
  • Carpet.
  • Interior trim"
