What does I-CAR say about water-damaged airbags?

Response

Per I-CAR curriculum: "Replace any airbags if they were submerged in floodwater. There is no repair or reconditioning procedure. Generally, if the water reaches the airbags on a vehicle, the vehicle is totaled since the water has risen at least to the instrument panel. However, as with all restraint system parts, do not recycle or use these parts on collision-damaged vehicles."
