Calibration Research Tips: Nissan/INFINITI - Bumper Cover Replaced With Sonar Sensor Holder

While searching for information on advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) on an OEM repair information site, you may come across unique calibration procedures or events. These events can vary by year and model, even within a particular make. As the RTS team has been researching these systems, we have been identifying these atypical circumstances. In order to help you better understand them, we are putting together a series of articles that help with the repair and calibration of ADAS. Let’s take a closer look at Nissan/INFINITI sonar sensor (park assist sensor) replacement.

Some Nissan/INFINITI vehicles require that the front or rear bumper cover be replaced any time the park assist sensor holder/mounting bracket needs to be replaced. This requirement can be found on a 2017-2019 INFINITI QX30, for example.

Per the 2019 INFINITI QX30 service manual, Front Sonar Sensor Removal and Installation procedure: “NOTE: When replacing sensor holder, replace bumper as well.”

The procedure details how to install the sensor brackets onto the new bumper cover.

Keep in mind that not all Nissan/INFINITI vehicles require the bumper cover to be replaced with the sensor holders, so make sure to check the service manual to see if it applies to the vehicle being repaired.

It is important to always follow OEM procedures for repairs and calibration. Finding this information quickly and efficiently contributes to a complete, safe, and quality repair.
