Locating OEM-Approved ADAS Tools: Toyota/Lexus

When researching calibration procedures for advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), you may notice that many of the procedures require the use of specific tools. Some tools may be everyday items like string, tape, levels, paper, etc. However, many of them are OEM-specific tools or scan tools. Often identifying and locating where to purchase these specific tools can be difficult.

The RTS team is researching how to find these tools to make it easier for technicians performing these procedures. As we research the location of these special tools, we are compiling the information in a series of OEM-specific articles. Let’s see where you can find Toyota/Lexus-approved tool information.

Diagnostic tool information and requirements can be found the techinfo.toyota.com website. Without logging in, click on the Scantools & Vehicle Reprogramming Devices link in the bottom right corner of the webpage. This loads a spreadsheet of all the supported diagnostic tools and a year range of vehicles they are for. Click on any of the Supported Diagnostic Tools to open more information about the tool.

On the same login page, click on the Special Service Tools link on the bottom of the page. A pop-up window opens where you will need to select either Toyota or Lexus special tools. Select one to go to the special tools website. Once you are on the tool website, you can either search using the search bar on the top of the page or by category on the left side of the page.

Always follow OEM procedures when calibrating ADAS. Make sure to check procedures for the required tools to help ensure a complete, safe, and quality repair.
