Locating OEM-Approved ADAS Tools: Kia

When researching calibration procedures for advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), you may notice that many of the procedures require the use of specific tools. Some tools may be everyday items like string, tape, levels, paper, etc. However, many of them are OEM-specific tools or scan tools. Often identifying and locating where to purchase these specific tools can be difficult.

The RTS team is researching how to find these tools to make it easier for technicians performing these procedures. As we research the location of these special tools, we are compiling the information in a series of OEM-specific articles. Let’s see where you can find Kia-approved tool information.

Information for Kia J2534 Diagnostics can be found for free at www.kiatechinfo.com. Once you are on the website, select the button for J2534 Diagnostics & Reprogramming. This opens a new webpage where you can select two other buttons that open as PDFs. These documents explain computer requirements for the diagnostic tools to work, as well as a model year range that these tools will be able to diagnose.

Other tools and equipment needed for Kia vehicles can be found on the www.kiaspecialtools.com website. You can also get to this site from the login page on the Kia service site by clicking on the Special tools and Equipment button. Once you are on the special tools and equipment site, click on the Online Catalog menu item. Tools can be found by entering a part number or search term at the top of the page or by clicking through the online catalog table of contents.

Always follow OEM procedures when calibrating ADAS. Make sure to check procedures for the required tools to help ensure a complete, safe, and quality repair.
