Repairer Driven News (RDN) released an article highlighting radar compliant refinish materials.

In this article RDN provides an overview of Collision Industry Conference (CIC) Parts and Materials committee panel discussion. This discussion involved representatives from Mercedes-Benz, paint makers and collision repairers.

The group discusses why radar compliant refinish material is required, and where this information may be found. A list of considerations for refinishers pertaining to painting near a radar sensor and which basecoat toners influence radar transmission. All panelists recommend referring to OEM recommendations early in the blueprinting process. Also, follow paint maker color-specific guidelines such as undercoat color selection and do not over apply basecoat.

This article presents views from specific paint and vehicle makers and is not applicable to all repairs. Always refer to OEM vehicle-specific information and paint maker recommendations prior to repairing a vehicle.
