Why do I need a subscription to an OEM website if I have full subscription access to the I-CAR Repairability Technical Support (RTS) portal? This is a question received on a regular basis through Ask I-CAR. Let’s take a look at why and how to purchase an OEM subscription.

With your RTS subscription, you gain access to a research department in your company for the hard to find information and on the information that needs clarification. While we can't send out vehicle maker repair procedures, (due to copyright laws) we can let you know if the information exists before you spend hours and money only to find out that the information does not exist.

Toyota/Lexus/Scion has several subscription options available. To purchase a subscription:

1. Go to www.techinfo.toyota.com
2. You will need to register for an account, if you do not already have one
3. To register, click Subscribe
4. The How To Subscribe page shows the various subscription options available
5. Click Continue
6. Select the subscription Type, Term, and Quantity
7. The subscription expiration date and price will then appear
8. Click Continue
9. Enter in your email address, click Continue
10. Enter in your personal information, click Continue
11. Create a password and security question/answer, click Continue
12. You will also need to correctly answer Toyota’s security question, click Continue
13. Review and confirm your information, click Continue
14. Enter in your billing information
15. A separate credit card payment window will pop up, complete information and click Process Order Now
16. Click Subscribe to complete the transaction
