I-CAR RTS PAVE Webinar

I-CAR RTS has created a webinar for the professional automotive virtual education (PAVE) training. It covers the practical application of the I-CAR Repairability Technical Support (RTS) Portal, advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) and calibration, and high-voltage vehicle safety.

In this video, now available on the RTS website, Bud Center and Scott VanHulle go through the RTS website, discussing each area, how to use it, and how it benefits the industry. They also explain how to search previous questions asked through Ask I-CAR and how to submit a new question to Ask I-CAR.

In addition, Dirk Fuchs and Jeff Poole discuss ADAS and calibration, covering the following:

  • The increase in ADAS on entry level vehicles
  • Identifying ADAS features on the vehicle you are working on
  • Driver education and awareness of ADAS
  • Returning ADAS to functioning as they did before the repair
  • Knowing what tools are needed for ADAS and where to obtain them
  • Understanding calibration procedures

Dirk and Jeff also discuss high-voltage disconnect procedures and safety. Some of the aspects covered are:

  • First steps in high-voltage safety
  • High-voltage PPE
  • Battery disconnect vs service disconnect
  • Wait time after battery disconnect
  • High-voltage testing tools
  • Voltage verification
  • Electrical bonding
  • Wire insulation testing
