DISABLE PROCEDURE AND TIME (Always Check Service Manual)
1. Disconnect and isolate the battery negative (ground) cable.2. Wait two minutes for the system capacitor to discharge before further system service.
Warning:
Never replace both the Occupant Restraint Controller (ORC) and the Occupant Classification Module (OCM) at the same time. If both require replacement, replace one, then perform the airbag system test (refer to service information) before replacing the other.
PARTS THAT MUST BE REPLACED FOLLOWING A DEPLOYMENT
• Driver airbag unit [Steering wheel airbag]• Passenger airbag unit [Instrument pnl airbag]
• Clockspring
• Passenger airbag door
• Front seat belt tensioners
• Side curtain airbag units [Roof airbag] on side which has deployed • Headliner and upper A, B and C pillar trims on side which side curtain airbag unit has deployed
• Any damaged restraint system part
PARTS THAT MUST BE INSPECTED AND REPLACED IF DAMAGED
• Airbag Control Module and Side Impact Airbag Control Module• Driver airbag trim cover [Airbag Cvr, Steering Wheel] and horn switch
• Front seatbelts and retractors
• Seat weight sensors
• Front impact sensors
• Side impact sensors
• Child restraint anchors
• Occupant Classification Module
• Occupant Restraint Controller
• Mounting surfaces and/or mounting brackets for the Occupant Restraint Controller (ORC), side impact sensors, and front impact sensors be closely inspected and restored to their original conditions following any vehicle impact damage
• On vehicles with optional sunroof [Moonroof] the sunroof drain tubes and hoses must be closely inspected following a side curtain airbag [Airbag, Roof] deployment
• Any restraint system part or wiring identified by diagnostic check
