The pyrotechnic components may be checked only when they are installed and with a VW approved vehicle diagnosis, testing and information system.1) The battery ground cable must be disconnected with the ignition SWITCHED ON. Then cover the negative pole.
2) Wait for 10 seconds after disconnecting the battery

PARTS THAT MUST BE REPLACED FOLLOWING A DEPLOYMENT
Always replace the following components after an accident when airbag has deployed:• All deployed airbag units [AIRBAG,STEERING WHEEL; AIRBAG,INSTRUMENT PNL; AIRBAG,FRONT SEAT; AIRBAG,ROOF]
• Supports and bracket of the the front passenger airbag unit, if front passenger airbag unit deployed
• Return ring with slip ring [CLOCK SPRING], if driver airbag deployed
• All Seat belts with deployed seat belt tensioners
• Any damaged restraint system part
PARTS THAT MUST BE INSPECTED AND REPLACED IF DAMAGED
Test the system with a suitable vehicle tester.• If needed (visual inspection), the following must also be replaced: all faulty SRS components
• Any restraint system part or wiring identified by diagnostic check
