DISABLE PROCEDURE AND TIME (Always Check Service Manual)
NOTE: Some systems store data in memory that is lost when the battery is disconnected. Make sure you have the anti-theft code(s) for the audio system and/or navigation system (if equipped).NOTE: The SRS memory is not erased even if the ignition switch is turned to LOCK (0) or the 12 volt battery cables are disconnected from the 12 volt battery.
Before disconnecting the SRS unit connectors, always disconnect the appropriate SRS parts connectors.
1. Make sure the ignition switch is in LOCK (0)
2. Disconnect the negative cable from the 12 volt battery
3. Wait at least 3 minutes before starting work

PARTS THAT MUST BE REPLACED FOLLOWING A DEPLOYMENT
After a collision where the seat belt tensioner(s) deployed, replace these items:• SRS unit [MODULE,AIRBAG CONTROL]
• Seat belt tensioner(s)
• Front impact sensor(s) [AIRBAG SENSOR,FRONT]
• Rear side trim panel(s) [PNL,INNER QTR TRIM] on the side(s) with a deployed seat belt tensioner(s)
After a collision where the front airbag(s) deployed, replace these items:
• SRS unit [MODULE,AIRBAG CONTROL]
• Deployed airbag(s) [AIRBAG, STEERING WHEEL; AIRBAG, INSTRUMENT PNL] with new mounting nuts
• Seat belt tensioner(s)
• Front impact sensor(s) [AIRBAG SENSOR,FRONT]
• Dashboard upper panel, if the instrument panel mounted airbag deployed.
• Rear side trim panel(s) [PNL,INNER QTR TRIM] on the side(s) with a deployed seat belt tensioner(s)
After a collision where the side airbag(s) deployed, replace these items:
• SRS unit [MODULE,AIRBAG CONTROL]
• Deployed side airbag(s) [AIRBAG,FRONT SEAT]
• Side impact sensor(s) (first) [AIRBAG SENSOR,SIDE]
• Side impact sensor(s) (second) [AIRBAG SENSOR,QTR PANEL]
• Seat frame(s) and related parts: After a collision where the side airbag was deployed, replace the side airbag [AIRBAG,FRONT SEAT], the seat frame and related parts with new parts. If the seat-back cushion is split, it must be replaced.
After a collision where a side curtain airbag has deployed, replace the items for the side(s) that deployed:
• SRS unit [MODULE,AIRBAG CONTROL]
• Deployed side curtain airbag(s) [AIRBAG,ROOF]
• Side impact sensor(s) (first) [AIRBAG SENSOR,SIDE]
• Side impact sensor(s) (second) [AIRBAG SENSOR,QTR PANEL]
• Front pillar trim(s)
• Center pillar trim(s)
• Rear pillar trim(s)
• Rear side trim panel(s)

PARTS THAT MUST BE INSPECTED AND REPLACED IF DAMAGED
• If there is a breaking or damage found in the harness relevant to the SRS replacement parts, replace it, do not repair• Never attempt to modify, splice, or repair SRS wiring. If there is an open or damage to the SRS wiring, replace the harness
• Before doing any SRS repairs. Check the SRS DTCs for the less obvious deployed parts (seat belt tensioners, front impact sensors, side airbag sensors, etc.)
• Do not replace the ODS unit unless it is physically damaged or a specific fault was found during DTC troubleshooting. Because it could complicate troubleshooting other DTCs.
• After a vehicle collision, inspect the active head restraint.
• After a vehicle collision, do the ODS unit operation check
• Seats and seat mounting points
• Do not repair a torn or frayed seat-back cover/pad. Replace the seat-back cover/pad if it is damaged
• Seatbelts and seat mounting points
• After a moderate to severe side or rear collision, inspect for any damage on the side curtain airbag or other related components. Replace the components as needed.
• Replace the seat belt with a new assembly if there is any abnormality. Do not disassemble any part of the seat belt for any reason
Additionally with the driver steering wheel mounted airbag deployed:
• Inspect the cable reel for heat damage. If there is any damage, replace the cable reel
• Make sure the clearance between the steering wheel and horn pad is the specified value
To prevent the side curtain airbags from deploying improperly and possibly causing injury, inspect the headliner and all removed trim. Replace any pieces with the following damage:
• Any creases or tears in the headliner
• Any damage around the sunvisor holes in the headliner
• Any cracks in the sunvisor bracket
• Any bends or cracks in the sunvisor shaft
• Any cracks in the sunvisor base
• Any cracks in the sunvisor bracket cover
• Any cracks or breaks in the vanity mirror base
• If the clips are damaged or stress-whitened, replace them with new ones.
