DISABLE PROCEDURE AND TIME (Always Check Service Manual)
NOTE: Before doing any SRS repairs, use the HDS SRS menu method to check for DTCs; refer to the DTC Troubleshooting Index for the less obvious deployed parts (seat belt tensioners, etc.).The original audio system has a coded theft protection circuit. Make sure you have the anti-theft codes for the audio system (if equipped), then write down the audio presets before disconnecting the negative cable from the battery
Before disconnecting the SRS unit connectors, always disconnect the appropriate SRS parts connectors.
1. Make sure the ignition switch is in LOCK (0).
2. Disconnect the negative cable from the battery
3. Wait at least 3 minutes.
PARTS THAT MUST BE REPLACED FOLLOWING A DEPLOYMENT
Before doing any SRS repairs, use the HDS SRS menu method to check for DTCs• SRS unit [Module, Airbag Control]
• Steering Wheel Mounted Airbag, If Deployed
• Passenger Instrument Panel Mounted Airbag, If Deployed. Always replace the passenger's lid whenever you remove the passenger's airbag from the lid
• Seat belt tensioners
• Front impact sensors
• Any damaged restraint system part
PARTS THAT MUST BE INSPECTED AND REPLACED IF DAMAGED
Before doing any SRS repairs, use the HDS SRS menu method to check for DTCs• Inspect all the SRS wire harnesses. Replace, do not repair, any damaged harnesses.
• Active head restraints
• Inspect the cable reel for heat damage. If there is any damage, replace the cable reel.
• Seat assemblies
• Any restraint system part or wiring identified by diagnostic check
