Per I-CAR curriculum: Coil springs installed at the time of repair may have been replaced and may differ from original OEM specifications. Coil springs may need to be replaced in pairs if a match to the undamaged coil spring cannot be identified or obtained or if the undamaged coil spring appears to be aged or worn.
Struts and shocks should be replaced in pairs if the undamaged shock is aged, worn, or cannot be matched.
Struts and shock absorbers are affected by age, mileage, and driving conditions, and may have been replaced and may differ from original OEM specifications.
Stabilizer links may either be a ball-and-socket type or an assembly of a bolt, spacers, bushings, washers, and a nut. They are replaceable as a single part and generally do not require being replaced in pairs.
Leaf springs may need to be replaced in pairs if a match to the undamaged leaf spring cannot be identified or obtained or if the undamaged leaf spring appears to be aged or worn. Replacement springs should restore ride-height and handling characteristics.
