DISABLE PROCEDURE AND TIME (Always Check Service Manual)
Read out the fault memory1. Remove ignition key.
2. Disconnect and cover the negative terminal of the battery.
3. Wait 1 minute and only then disconnect the plug connection.

PARTS THAT MUST BE REPLACED FOLLOWING A DEPLOYMENT
The following components must be removed and replaced after the airbag system is triggered:Triggered Airbag unit, driver's side:
1. Contact unit. [CLOCK SPRING]
2. Airbag unit, driver's side.
3. Triggering unit after the system is triggered for the third time [MODULE, AIRBAG CONTROL]
Triggered Airbag unit, passenger's side:
1. Airbag unit, passenger's side. [AIRBAG,INSTRUMENT PNL]
2. Triggering unit after the system is triggered for the third time [MODULE, AIRBAG CONTROL]
3. Instrument panel.
Triggered Side-airbag unit, seat:
1. Side-airbag unit, seat. [AIRBAG,FRONT SEAT]
2. Seat covering, deformed seat components.
3. Sensor for the side airbag unit after the side airbag is triggered for the third time [AIRBAG SENSOR,SIDE]
4. Triggering unit after the system is triggered for the third time [MODULE, AIRBAG CONTROL]
Triggered Head airbag unit, door:
1. Head airbag unit. [AIRBAG,DRIVER DOOR; AIRBAG,FRT PASS DOOR]
2. Sensor for the side airbag unit after the side airbag is triggered for the third time [AIRBAG SENSOR,SIDE]
3. Triggering unit after the system is triggered for the third time [MODULE, AIRBAG CONTROL]
Belt tensioner:
• All triggered belt tensioner units.
• Triggering unit after the system is triggered for the third time [MODULE, AIRBAG CONTROL]
PARTS THAT MUST BE INSPECTED AND REPLACED IF DAMAGED
Using the PIWIS Tester 9718, read out the fault memoryAirbag unit, passenger's side:
• Check instrument panel bracket for deformation and replace if necessary
Head airbag unit, door:
• Check door unit carrier for deformation and replace if necessary.
Belt tensioner:
Because it is difficult to visually determine if one or more belt tensioners has been triggered, check the following points:
– Using the PIWIS Tester 9718, read out the fault memory.
– Check plug connection on the belt tensioner for damage.
– Pull out the belt strap as far as possible and check for wear.
– Perform a function test on the automatic belt device.
