DISABLE PROCEDURE AND TIME (Always Check Service Manual)
The SIR Diagnostic System Check must be the starting point of any SIR diagnostics.1) Turn the steering wheel to the straight-ahead position.
2) Turn the ignition switch to LOCK and remove the key.
3) Remove the airbag fuse F8 in the I/P fuse block and wait more than one minute for SIR capacitor to
discharge
PARTS THAT MUST BE REPLACED FOLLOWING A DEPLOYMENT
Accident with Deployment Components Replacements:• The SDM
• Airbag modules
• SIR wiring
• Clock spring
• Airbag modules (Incase of frontal collision, the replacement of side airbag modules is not needed.
In case of side collision of a vehicle, the replacement of front airbag modules is not needed.)
• The seat belt pretensioner must be replaced after an accident that causes its activation.
• Any part or wiring identified by diagnostic check
PARTS THAT MUST BE INSPECTED AND REPLACED IF DAMAGED
Repairs and Inspections Required after an Accident:• If any SIR components are damaged, they must be replaced. If SIR components mounting points are
damaged, they must be repaired or replaced
• Steering column
• Instrument panel knee bolsters and mounting points
• Inspect the instrument panel (I/P) and steering column reinforcement plate for distortion, bending and
cracking or other damage
• Inspect the I/P braces for distortion, bending and cracking or other damage
• Inspect the seat belt and mounting points
• Do not repair any wires of supplemental inflatable restraints (SIR). Replace any damaged wires with new one
• Any part or wiring identified by diagnostic check
