This Privacy Policy does not cover the privacy practices of our licensees or business partners, nor does it cover personally identifiable data that we collect from and about our employees.  By providing us with information and by using our websites, you consent to have your information used as described in this Policy. International Visitors

This site is hosted by I-CAR, which is located in the United States. If you are visiting from Canada, Australia, New Zealand, the European Union or other regions with laws governing data collection and use that may differ from United States law (and may not provide the same level of protections as those in your own country), please note that you are transferring your personal data to the United States and by providing your personal data you consent to that transfer. When you provide personal data to us or our service providers or vendors, you consent to the processing of your data in the United States as the site is operated in the United States.


We do not knowingly collect personally identifiable data from persons under the age of 13, and strive to comply with the provisions of COPPA (The Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act). Information We Collect

We may collect names, addresses, email addresses, I-CAR ID numbers, payment information such as credit card numbers, check information and test scores from you or from your employer (should your employer choose to work with I-CAR). We may also provide you with the ability to submit additional information (e.g. online interactive forums).

We may combine the information we gather from you with information we have been provided about you from other sources, either by yourself, or by our business partners. For example, if you work for an employer who has requested that you take one of our classes, we may combine information provided to us by your employer with information you provide to us directly. Additionally, we may share some of that combined information back to your employer.

Passive Information Collection

Through the use of website cookies (very small text files that are added to your hard drive from a web page) and other passive tracking mechanisms we may use from time to time, your account number is remembered, allowing you to be automatically logged in when returning to our site. We also use passive tracking mechanisms to capture standard web traffic information such as time, date, IP address and browser.

How We Use Your Personally Identifiable Information

We use your personally identifiable information for the purposes described at the time of collection or as otherwise described to you, to process your requests, to report to your employer whether you have or have not passed a class, and for our other legitimate business purposes. From time to time we may also use your contact information to send you information about I-CAR, our products or services, or the products or services of third parties in which we believe you may be interested.

We use information collected through passive tracking mechanisms to track the activity on our websites, for the purpose of improving your online experience, for improving our services, or for other business purposes.

Disclosure to Third Parties

We may disclose your personally identifiable information in the following circumstances:

  • To your past, current, or future employer or employers, or any entity to which you perform services through your employment relationship, including upon their request, sharing information such as your enrolment status, your scores for particular tests, and whether you have passed (or failed) any courses you have taken with us.
  • When working with other I-CAR affiliated organizations to deliver or provide goods and services;
  • To investigate potentially fraudulent or questionable activities regarding your use of our services;
  • In anticipation of and in the course of an actual or potential sale, reorganization, consolidation, merger or amalgamation of all or part of our business; and
  • When we believe it is necessary to cooperate with law enforcement, including if specifically requested or required, or as otherwise permitted by law.

Also, keep in mind that certain areas of our web sites may be interactive in nature, such as user forums. Information you submit to be posted on forums or other interactive areas, as well as the user name you select, will be viewed by anyone who visits our website. If you don't want to have that information available publicly, you should not post to our forums.

California Residents - Your Privacy Rights Relating to Certain Information Disclosures

If you have an established business relationship with us, and are a resident of California, you have the right to request from us a list of the categories of personal information we have disclosed to third parties for those third parties' marketing purposes, and a list of all third parties to whom we have shared that information. We will include in that list the information required by California law, namely the names and addresses of the third parties who received the information and used it (or whom we believe may have used it) for their own marketing purposes.

I-CAR web sites may contain links to other third party sites that are not governed by this privacy policy. Although we make every effort toward only linking to sites with high privacy standards, our privacy policy will no longer apply once you leave the I-CAR web site.  We are not responsible for the privacy practices employed by other third party web sites, and we suggest that you examine the privacy statements of those sites to learn how your information may be collected, used, shared and disclosed.

We use reasonable industry standard means to safeguard sensitive personally identifiable information under our control.  A "sign-on" using a user id and a password is needed to access certain secured areas of the I-CAR web site. If you are unable to provide the correct password, you will not be able to access these sections. It is your responsibility to protect your username and password.

Effective Date, Future Changes and Updating of Policy

This Privacy Policy has been in effect since November 16, 2009. We may add, modify or remove portions of this policy when we feel it is correct to do so or in accordance with law, and your continued use of our web sites or our services after receiving notice of such change, which notice may include the posting of an updated policy on our web sites, constitutes your acceptance of those changes.
