DISABLE PROCEDURE AND TIME (Always Check Service Manual)

WARNING
Service or maintenance of any SRS component or SRS-related component must be performed only at an authorized MITSUBISHI dealer.

1. Turn the ignition key to the "LOCK" (OFF) position
2. Disconnect the negative (-) battery cable from the battery and tape the terminal to prevent accidental connection and air bag(s) deployment
3. Wait at least 60 seconds after disconnecting the battery cable before doing any further work.

DRIVERS, FRONT PASSENGER’S, KNEE AIR BAGS AND SEAT BELT WITH PRE-TENSIONER ARE DEPLOYED:

• SRS-ECU [MODULE,AIRBAG CONTROL]
• DRIVERS air bag module [AIRBAG, STEERING WHEEL], [if deployed]
• Passenger’s (front) air bag module [AIRBAG, INSTRUMENT PNL], [if deployed]
• Knee air bag module [AIRBAG,KNEE BOLSTER]
• Seat belt with pre-tensioner, [if deployed]
• Front impact sensor [AIRBAG SENSOR,FRONT]
• Passenger’s (front) air bag lid assembly
• Front passenger’s seat cushion assembly (occupant classification-ECU) [CUSHION,FRONT SEAT]
• Seat slide sensor

WHEN SIDE AND CURTAIN AIR BAGS DEPLOY IN A COLLISION:

• SRS-ECU [MODULE,AIRBAG CONTROL]
• Headlining [HEADLINER]
• Front seat assembly [if deployed]
• Curtain air bag module, [AIRBAG, ROOF] [if deployed]
• Side impact sensor (front) [AIRBAG SENSOR,SIDE]
• Seat belt with pre-tensioner
• Front pillar trim, center pillar trim upper, quarter trim upper

WHEN CURTAIN AIR BAGS DEPLOY IN A COLLISION:

• SRS-ECU [MODULE,AIRBAG CONTROL]
• Headlining [HEADLINER]
• Side impact sensors (rear) [AIRBAG SENSOR,QTR PANEL]
• Curtain airbag modules [AIRBAG, ROOF], [if deployed]
• Front pillar trim, center pillar trim upper, quarter trim upper

WHEN CURTAIN AIR BAGS DEPLOY AND SEAT BELT PRE-TENSIONER OPERATE IN A COLLISION:

• SRS-ECU [MODULE,AIRBAG CONTROL]
• Headlining [HEADLINER]
• Side impact sensors (rear) [AIRBAG SENSOR,QTR PANEL]
• Seat belt with pre-tensioner, [if deployed]
• Curtain airbag modules [AIRBAG, ROOF], [if deployed]
• Front pillar trim, center pillar trim upper, quarter trim upper

PARTS THAT MUST BE INSPECTED AND REPLACED IF DAMAGED

• Perform SRS-ECU memory check
• Check the SRS components. If the SRS components are showing any visible damage such as dents, cracks, or deformation, replace them with new ones

DRIVERS, FRONT PASSENGER’S, KNEE AIR BAGS AND SEAT BELT WITH PRE-TENSIONER ARE DEPLOYED:

• Clock spring
• Seat belt switch
• Steering wheel, steering column assembly
• Instrument panel assembly
• Check the wiring harness for binding, the connector for damage, and the terminal for deformation

WHEN SIDE AND CURTAIN AIR BAGS DEPLOY IN A COLLISION:

• Headlining
• Front pillar trim, center pillar trim upper, quarter trim upper
• Check the wiring harnesses for binding, the connectors for damage, poor connections, and the terminals for deformation

WHEN CURTAIN AIR BAGS DEPLOY IN A COLLISION:

• Headlining
• Quarter trim upper
• Check the wiring harnesses for binding, the connectors for damage, poor connections, and the terminals for deformation
