2018 Nissan Rogue

DISABLE PROCEDURE AND TIME (Always Check Service Manual)

WARNING:
To avoid rendering the SRS inoperative, which could increase the risk of personal injury or death in the event of a collision which would result in air bag inflation, all maintenance must be performed by an authorized NISSAN dealer.

1. Turn ignition switch OFF
2. Disconnect both battery cables
3. Wait at least 3 minutes or more.

Before disconnecting air bag diagnosis sensor unit harness connectors, be sure to disconnect each harness connector of side curtain air bag modules, front seat belt pre-tensioner, and front side air bag module, to prevent accidental air bag deployment by static electricity and seat belt pre-tensioner operation.

REV: 10/2019

PARTS THAT MUST BE REPLACED FOLLOWING A DEPLOYMENT

For front air bag deployment:

• Driver's Air bag module [AIRBAG,STEERING WHEEL], if deployed
• Driver knee air bag module [AIRBAG,KNEE BOLSTER], if deployed
• Front passenger air bag module, [AIRBAG,INSTRUMENT PNL], if deployed
• If any of the front air bags or seat belt pre-tensioners have deployed: REPLACE the crash zone sensor(s) [AIRBAG SENSOR,FRONT] and bracket(s) with new fasteners
• Replace deployed seat belt pre-tensioner assemblies with new fasteners
• If any of the SRS components have deployed: REPLACE the Diagnosis sensor unit [MODULE,AIRBAG CONTROL]
• If the driver front air bag has deployed: REPLACE the spiral cable [CLOCK SPRING]
• If the passenger front air bag has deployed: REPLACE the instrument panel assembly. (integrated type)
• Replace any seat belt assembly if: The seat belt was in use at the time of a collision (except for minor collisions and the belts, retractors and buckles show no damage and continue to operate properly). Confirm seat belt pre-tensioner activation using CONSULT only.

For side air bag and side curtain air bag deployment:

• LH or RH side curtain air bag module, [AIRBAG,ROOF] (on the side on which side curtain air bag is deployed)
• If either the front LH or front RH side air bag modules [AIRBAG & SEAT BACK ASSY] has been deployed: REPLACE front seatback assembly and a new Seat Airbag module on the deployed side
• Side air bag (satellite) sensor, [AIRBAG SENSOR,SIDE] on the collision side with new fasteners
• Side air bag (satellite) sensor, [AIRBAG SENSOR,QTR PANEL] on the collision side with new fasteners (If equipped)
• Door (satellite) sensor (LH or RH), [AIRBAG SENSOR,FRT DOOR] on the collision side with new fasteners
• Diagnosis sensor unit [MODULE,AIRBAG CONTROL]
• Replace deployed seat belt pre-tensioner assemblies with new fasteners
• Replace any seat belt assembly if: The seat belt was in use at the time of a collision (except for minor collisions and the belts, retractors and buckles show no damage and continue to operate properly). Confirm seat belt pre-tensioner activation using CONSULT only.

WARNING:
Inspect all seat belt assemblies including retractors and attached hardware after any collision. NISSAN/INFINITI recommends that all seat belt assemblies in use during a collision be replaced unless the collision was minor and the belts show no damage and continue to operate properly. Failure to do so could result in serious personal injury in an accident. Seat belt assemblies not in use during a collision should also be replaced if either damage or improper operation is noted. Seat belt pre-tensioners should be replaced even if the seat belts are not in use during a frontal collision in which the air bags are deployed.

PARTS THAT MUST BE INSPECTED AND REPLACED IF DAMAGED

Perform self-diagnosis using CONSULT or air bag warning lamp.

For front air bag deployment:

• Airbag modules that have NOT deployed
• Steering wheel assembly
• Replace any SRS components showing visible signs of damage.
• Spiral cable, If the driver front air bag has not deployed
• Instrument panel assembly, If the passenger front air bag has NOT deployed
• Seat assemblies and mounting points
• Inspect the seat belt attaching area for damage or distortion and repair as necessary before installing a new seat belt assembly.
• If any component of seat belt assembly is questionable, do not repair. Replace the whole seat belt assembly.
• Inspect the seat belt attaching area for damage or
distortion and repair if necessary before installing a new seat belt assembly.
• Occupant classification system (Passenger seat)
• Harness and connectors, If damaged—REPLACE the damaged harness. Do not attempt to repair, splice or modify any SRS harness.

For a side air bag and side curtain air bag deployment:

• Airbag modules that have NOT deployed
• Side air bag (satellite) sensor (LH or RH) on the collision side
• Door (satellite) sensor (LH or RH)
• Center inner pillar
• Seat assemblies and mounting points
• Trim/headlining on the collision side
• Inspect the seat belt attaching area for damage or distortion and repair as necessary before installing a new seat belt assembly.
• If any component of seat belt assembly is questionable, do not repair. Replace the whole seat belt assembly.
• Inspect the seat belt attaching area for damage or
distortion and repair if necessary before installing a new seat belt assembly.
• Occupant classification system (Passenger seat)
• Harness and connectors, If damaged—REPLACE the damaged harness. Do not attempt to repair, splice or modify any SRS harness.

Replace any seat belt assembly (including anchor bolts) if:
• The seat belt is in use at the time of a collision (except for minor collisions and the belts, retractors and buckles show no damage and continue to operate properly).
• The seat belt is damaged in an accident (i.e. torn webbing, bent retractor or guide).
• The seat belt attaching point is damaged in an accident. Inspect the seat belt attaching area for damage or distortion and repair as necessary before installing a new seat belt assembly.
• Anchor bolts are deformed or worn out.
• (If Damaged) The front seat belt pre-tensioner must be replaced even if the seat belts are not in use during the collision in which the air bags are deployed.
