DISABLE PROCEDURE AND TIME (Always Check Service Manual)

WARNING:
To avoid rendering the SRS inoperative, which could increase the risk of personal injury or death in the event of a collision which would result in air bag inflation, all maintenance must be performed by an authorized NISSAN/INFINITI dealer.

1. Turn the ignition switch off.
2. Disconnect both battery cables.
3. Wait at least 3 minutes.

PARTS THAT MUST BE REPLACED FOLLOWING A DEPLOYMENT

FOR FRONTAL COLLISION
When SRS has deployed in a collision:
• If the driver air bag has deployed: REPLACE Install with new fasteners. [AIRBAG,STEERING WHEEL]
• If the front passenger air bag has deployed: REPLACE Install with new fasteners [AIRBAG,INSTRUMENT PNL]
• If any of the front air bags or seat belt pre-tensioners• have been activated: REPLACE the crash zone sensor and bracket with new fasteners [AIRBAG SENSOR,FRONT]
• If the Seat belt pre-tensioner• has been activated: REPLACE the assembly with new fasteners
• If any of the SRS components have been activated: REPLACE the diagnosis sensor unit [MODULE,AIRBAG CONTROL]
• If the driver front airbag has deployed: REPLACE the spiral cable. [CLOCK SPRING]
• If the passenger front air bag has deployed: REPLACE the instrument panel assembly (integrated type)

FOR SIDE AND ROLLOVER COLLISION
When SRS has deployed in a collision:
• If either the front LH or front RH side air bag modules has been deployed: REPLACE front seatback assembly on the deployed side and the deployed seat airbag module. [AIRBAG,FRONT SEAT]
• If the side curtain air bag LH has deployed: REPLACE the side curtain air bag module LH [AIRBAG,ROOF]
• If the side curtain air bag RH has deployed: REPLACE the side curtain air bag module RH [AIRBAG,ROOF]
• If any of the SRS components have deployed: REPLACE the side air bag (satellite) sensor on the collision side with new fasteners [AIRBAG SENSOR,SIDE; AIRBAG SENSOR,QTR PANEL]
• If any of the SRS components have been activated: REPLACE the diagnosis sensor unit [MODULE,AIRBAG CONTROL]
• If the Seat belt pre-tensioner• has been activated: REPLACE the assembly with new fasteners

Replace any seat belt assembly (including anchor bolts) if:
• The front seat belt pre-tensioner should be replaced even if the seat belts are not in use during the collision in which the air bags are deployed.

PARTS THAT MUST BE INSPECTED AND REPLACED IF DAMAGED

For a front air bag deployment:
• Steering wheel
• Non-deployed airbags
• Steering wheel harness, connectors and terminals
• Wiring harness, connectors and terminals
• Instrument panel assembly
• All seat belt assemblies including retractors and attaching hardware
• If any component of seat belt assembly is questionable, do not repair. Replace the entire seat belt assembly
• Seats and seat mounting points
• Occupant classification system (Passenger seat)
• ccomponents showing visible signs of damage. (dents, cracks and deformation, etc.)
• Inspect all seat belt assemblies including retractors and attached hardware after any collision.

For a side air bag deployment:
• Non-deployed airbags
• Side air bag (satellite) sensor (LH or RH)
• Trim/headliner
• Center inner pillar on the collision side for damage (dents, cracks, deformation), repair if damaged
• Check for visible signs of damage (dents, cracks, deformation, etc.) of the interior trim on the collision side
• Seats and seat mounting points
• All seat belt assemblies including retractors and attaching hardware
• Replace any SRS components showing visible signs of damage. (dents, cracks and deformation, etc.)

NISSAN recommends that all seat belt assemblies in use during a collision be replaced unless the collision was minor and the belts show no damage and continue to operate properly.

Replace any seat belt assembly (including anchor bolts) if:
• The seat belt was in use at the time of a collision (except for minor collisions and the belts, retractors and buckles show no damage and continue to operate properly).
• The seat belt was damaged in an accident (i.e. torn webbing, bent retractor or guide).
• The seat belt attaching point was damaged in an accident. Inspect the seat belt attaching area for damage or distortion and repair as necessary before installing a new seat belt assembly.
• Anchor bolts are deformed or worn out.
• The front seat belt pre-tensioner should be replaced even if the seat belts are not in use during the collision in which the air bags are deployed.
