DISABLE PROCEDURE AND TIME (Always Check Service Manual)

When working on the airbag system, the battery ground strap must be disconnected. No waiting time is necessary after disconnecting battery.

PARTS THAT MUST BE REPLACED FOLLOWING A DEPLOYMENT

Always replace the following components after an accident when airbag has deployed:

• All deployed airbag units [AIRBAG,STEERING WHEEL; AIRBAG,INSTRUMENT PNL; AIRBAG,FRONT SEAT; AIRBAG,QTR PANEL; AIRBAG,ROOF]
• (Components) Supporting the front passenger airbag unit when deployed
• Coil connector with slip ring [CLOCK SPRING], if driver airbag deployed
• All Seat belts with deployed seat belt tensioners
• If a deployed head curtain airbag is replaced, the headliner, door seals with weather stripping, curtain airbag guides, grab handle brackets, and the A, B, C and (if equipped) D-pillar trim must be replaced.

PARTS THAT MUST BE INSPECTED AND REPLACED IF DAMAGED

Test the system with a suitable vehicle tester.

If needed (visual inspection), the following must also be replaced: all faulty components.

Passenger Occupant Detection System:
• Each time passenger airbag and/or belt pretensioner on passenger side is deployed, Seat Occupied Recognition Control Module -J706• basic setting must be performed
• If the seat rails and/or the seat pan must be replaced after a accident due to deformation, the seat occupied recognition must also be replaced with seat occupied recognition repair kit.

• Seat belt system
• If a passenger airbag is replaced, check if an additional ground cable must be routed in the vehicle, it is necessary in some cases.
• If a deployed head curtain airbag is replaced, inspect the rear interior lights, the roof grab handles and the roof end strip, if damaged, replace.

If a deployed head curtain airbag is replaced:
• If damaged, the rear interior lights, the roof grab handles and the roof end strip must be replaced.
