DISABLE PROCEDURE AND TIME (Always Check Service Manual)

1. Turn ignition switch to LOCK position.
2. Disconnect the negative battery cable, and then wait for 1 minute or more to allow the backup power supply of the SAS control module to deplete its stored power.

REV: 06/2012

PARTS THAT MUST BE REPLACED FOLLOWING A DEPLOYMENT

Driver-side air bag module [if deployed] [AIRBAG,STEERING WHEEL]

Passenger-side air bag module [if deployed] [AIRBAG,INSTRUMENT PNL]

Curtain air bag module [if deployed] [AIRBAG,ROOF]

Side Air Bag Module:
After a side air bag has operated (deployed), always replace
both the side air bag module and the seat back (pad, frame, trim) with new
parts. [AIRBAG,FRONT SEAT]

Seat Weight Sensor:
Always replace the passenger seat and seat weight sensor with new ones after the front or side air bags have operated (deployed). The passenger-side seat and the seat weight sensor may become deformed or otherwise damaged due to operation (deployment) of the front or side air bag in an accident. This may cause the passenger sensing function to operate improperly and result in a serious accident. [AIRBAG & SEAT BACK ASSY]

SAS Control Module:
Once the air bags and pre-tensioner seat belts have operated (deployed) due to a collision or other causes, the SAS control module must be replaced with a new one [MODULE,AIRBAG CONTROL]

Crash Zone Sensor:
Once the air bags and pre-tensioner seat belts have operated (deployed) due to a collision or other causes, the crash zone sensor must be replaced [AIRBAG SENSOR,FRONT]

Side Air Bag Sensor:
Once the air bag has operated (deployed) due to a collision or other causes, the side air bag sensor must be replaced with a new one [AIRBAG SENSOR,SIDE, AIRBAG SENSOR,QTR PANEL]

Pre-tensioner seat belt:
Be sure to replace the seat belt once the load limiter operates.

PARTS THAT MUST BE INSPECTED AND REPLACED IF DAMAGED

Before reusing a live (undeployed) air bag module and the pre-tensioner seat belts, always use the on-board diagnostic to diagnose the air bag module and the pre-tensioner seat belts to verify that they have no malfunction.

Seat Weight Sensor:
If the collision is not hard enough to cause the front or side air bags to operate (deploy), inspect the seat weight sensor and replace it if there is any malfunction. Perform the seat weight sensor inspection using the WDS or equivalent

Air Bag Wiring Harness:
Incorrectly repairing an air bag wiring harness can accidentally operate (deploy) the air bag module and pre-tensioner seat belts. If a problem is found in the air bag wiring harness, always replace the wiring harness with a new one
