Accessing Disable Procedure

To find the BMW High-Voltage Disable Procedures:

1. Go to www.bmwtechinfo.com
2. Enter username and password (top left block)
3. Click Login
4. Click I agree
5. Click AOS (top of webpage)
6. Select Repair Manuals & Diagrams (AIR) from dropdown
7. Click Start (middle of webpage)
8. New window or tab opens
9. Enter vehicle
• option 1: Enter VIN into first textbook, and click magnifying glass icon (inside textbook)
• option 2: Manually select vehicle(right of webpage)
1. Select Brand from dropdown
2. Select Model Series from downdown
3. Select Development Code from downdown
4. Select other required information from downdowns
5. Click magnifying glass icon (bottom of webpage)
10. Click Repair Instructions (top of webpage)
11. Click Unified Parts Group (left of webpage)
12. Click 61 General Vehicle Electrical System
13. Click 61/20 Battery
14. After selecting parts group, a list of documents appears (middle of webpage)
15. Click document that says Disconnecting And Connecting Battery Ground Lead

Hybrid And Electric Vehicle Welding Best Practices

When welding on a hybrid vehicle or electric vehicle, follow the same precautions as when welding on a conventional vehicle. In addition, there are precautions to take with the high-voltage battery. As a best practice, disconnect both the 12 V battery and the high-voltage battery service disconnect. (Note: Always disable the high-voltage battery following the vehicle makers repair information and follow all safety precautions.)
