Accessing Disable Procedure
To find the Tesla High-Voltage Disable Procedures:
- Go to service.teslamotors.com
- Click Log In (top right corner of webpage)
- Enter username and password, and click red Log In button
- Select model picture (middle of webpage, or tabs across top of webpage)
- Click Service Manual under Service Information category
- Click 17 Electrical (left of webpage)
- Click 1701 12V Battery and Fuses

Hybrid And Electric Vehicle Welding Best Practices
"CAUTION
Do not weld on a Tesla vehicle before performing the Vehicle Electrical Isolation Procedure (refer to the vehicle-specific Service Manual for more information on the Vehicle Electrical Isolation Procedure). Welding on a Tesla vehicle with an energized high or low voltage system might damage vehicle components."
Refinish Precautions
"After painting, it is acceptable to “bake” (force dry) the vehicle in a paint booth with the HV battery installed as long as none of the following parameters are exceeded:
- Maximum baking time: 45 minutes.
- Vehicle temperature before baking: Less than 35°C (95°F).
- Maximum HV battery temperature during baking: 60°C (140°F)
Caution: Before baking, if the battery temperature cannot be determined, the vehicle must be in an ambient temperature below 35°C (95°F) for at least 12 hours before baking starts.
If these parameters must be exceeded for any reason, contact the Tesla Body Repair team before proceeding.
Caution: Before baking, if any repairs to the thermal system (cooling and HVAC) have not been completed, disconnect high and low voltage power to prevent these systems from turning on during baking." (surface temperature)
