Ford/Lincoln Position Statement: Non-OEM Structural Rivets

Ford/Lincoln has released a position statement on the use of non-OEM structural rivets on their vehicles.

The position statement, Use Of Non-OEM Structural Rivets On Ford Motor Company Vehicles, states that the use of aftermarket structural rivets is not authorized. This includes self-piercing rivets (SPR), blind rivets, and solid rivets.

Additional details are given on how there are unique rivets designed for specific locations on the vehicle. The position statement goes on to express that rivets are not universal, and the placement of them cannot deviate from the OEM repair procedures.

Ford/Lincoln also emphasizes that the proper rivet tool is essential and provides a list of approved SPR tools in the statement.
