Identifying The Correct Body Repair Manual: Jaguar Land Rover

Vehicle makers may group their body repair manuals (BRM) in several different ways. Sometimes the BRMs are grouped by a year range, some are listed as VIN specific, and others are arranged by a body code. Let’s take a look at Jaguar Land Rover to see how they group their BRMs.

Jaguar Land Rover uses one or two letters followed by numbers in order to indicate its body code. For example, a 2022 Jaguar E-Pace uses the body code "X540." This body code for the E-Pace is used for the 2018-present model. The 2022 Land Rover Defender uses the body code "L663." This body code for the Defender is used for the 2020-present model.

The best way to ensure the correct body repair manual is used, is to search for the vehicle using the VIN on the service site. If you are not able to use the VIN, make sure to select the body repair manual with the correct body code.

Body codes are important when it comes to ordering parts, looking up repair procedures, and measuring the vehicle. This is especially true when a vehicle maker continues to build a previous generation model when the new generation model is still being produced. With different body codes comes differing procedures and precautions. Always make sure the correct BRM is selected before beginning repairs.
